The Debt Collector: Creditor Reveals Man's Affair to Wife For Not Paying Debt

"Yes, we are the root of all human evils..."
A Chicago man is suing a debt collection agency, claiming that a collector called his wife to notify her that her husband was having an extramarital affair after the man was unable to pony up the money he owed!

Larnel Pillow, 42, of Richton Park, Illinois, says the call from the debt collector to his wife turned his world "upside down", after he was unable to make payments on an automobile he had purchased after losing his job in the sour economy.  Upon hearing the news from the cold, callous, calculating collector, Pillow's wife proceeded to leave him, taking along the couple's children as well.

Pillow bought the car after securing a loan through the Prestige Financial Corp. headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, which "helps" (yeah, right!) individuals with bad credit to get a loan. Pillow became "friends" with a local agent for the company, making the mistake of sharing confidential information with the man, including the fact he was stepping out on his clueless wife! Pillow's mistress was even helping him make the car payments for a while, but when he lost his job as a crane operator, he could no longer afford to make his monthly installment.

After falling behind several months on his payments, Pillow claims his friendly neighborhood blood-thirsty loan shark threatened to expose his affair in an attempt to illegally extort the money from him. When he was still unable to come up with the funds, the agent made true on his threat.

Pillow eventually surrendered the automobile to his malicious and unscrupulous creditors and has now filed a suit in court for Affliction of  Emotional Distress and Extortion for an undisclosed sum of money.

  1. It is good that the Larnel has gone to the court. The debt collection agencies should be taught a lesson. I am shocked to know about the extent to which they can go for collecting money. It seems that debt collectors have no scruples. They have no right to do anything like this. I hope Larnel wins the case.
