More Brains! Hackers Broadcast "Zombie Apocalypse" Warning on Montana TV

Residents of Montana must have thought they were in a real-life Z-grade zombie flick after hackers managed to sneak in a Zombie Apocalypse Warning over the airwaves of a local television station!

The warning came in the middle of a broadcast of The Steve Wilko Show (appropriately enough, although it would have been extra cool during an episode of The Walking Dead). After the standard Emergency Broadcast Alert buzzer, a computer generated voice declared that "“the bodies of the dead are rising from their graves and attacking the living” in several Montana counties.

“Do not attempt to approach or apprehend these bodies as they are considered extremely dangerous,” the warning continued, calling on local citizens to “follow the messages on screen that will be updated as information becomes available.”

Station KRTV immediately pulled the bogus warning and apologized to viewers, on air as well as on-line:
“This message did not originate from KRTV, and there is no emergency,” the station said in an official statement. “Our engineers are investigating to determine what happened and if it affected other media outlets.”

I wonder how many citizens ran to grab their guns upon hearing the alert?

Man Run Over & Killed While Pretending to Be Bigfoot

A Montana man has died after apparently donning a suit and being run down by two vehicles while trying to make passing motorists call in a "Bigfoot" sighting.

Police in Kalispell, Montana, believe that 44-year-old Randy Lee Tenley was wearing a military-style Ghillie suit (also known as a yowie suit or camo tent) and was walking near a busy roadway in an effort to convice passersby that they had witnessed seeing the mythical creature Sasquatch.

Tenley was standing in the roadway when he was first struck by a car driven by a local teenager. Moments later, a second car also ran over him as he lay injured in the roadway. Police and paramedics state that Tenley died at the scene due to massive trauma and blood loss. Local media reports that Tenley's friends believe he was playing a prank in order to get people to report they had seen the legendary Bigfoot creature.

"He was trying to make people think he was Sasquatch so people would call in a Sasquatch sighting," stated Montana State Trooper Jim Schneider. "You can’t make it up. I haven’t seen or heard of anything like this before." The police believe Tenley was standing in the middle of the right lane in an area of the road where it is difficult to see anything in the road from a long distance. Authorities also believe that alcohol may have played a role in the accident and are awaiting toxicology reports to see if the deceased was drunk at the time of his death.

Ghillie suits are a type of full-body clothing made to resemble heavy foliage and used to camouflage military snipers. They are also often used by hunting enthusiasts to prevent being spotted by wild game in the forest.

Land of the Lost: Police Search for Missing Dinosaur

If you are driving near Missoula, Montana, and you happen to notice a 12-foot-long dinosaur moping around, police ask that you not panic and to notify them of its whereabouts.

Seems some prankster thieves made off with the giant fiberglass dinosaur that had been located outside of the Hi-Noon Petroleum gas station in Missoula. Nicknamed "Dino"—after The Flintstone's loveable "mongrel"—the large statue had been the unofficial mascot for the filling station. Now, the station's owners are offering a $250 gas card for information leading to his safe return.

Dino is pretty hard to miss. He stands over six feet tall, is twelve-feet long and is a bright shade of green. He's believed to be a brontosaurus, but there has been no confirmation from a dinosaur expert regarding what type of dinosaur the statue actually is.

Dino had been situated on a hill overlooking Interstate 90 for the past five years, occasionally making appearances in University of Montana Homecoming parades. Passing tourists would often stop and take photographs of the dinosaur.

Anyone with any information regarding the missing dinosaur may contact the Hi-Noon Petroleum station or the Missoula police department.

Self-Inflicted: Man Writing Kindness in America Book Admits to Shooting Self

A West Virginia man who claimed to have been shot hitchhiking across the country while writing a book on kindness in the United States has admitted the whole incident was a hoax.

Authorities say that 39-year-old Roy Dolin shot himself in the arm as a desperate ploy to garner attention for the book he was writing, titled Kindness in America. Police believe Dolin shot himself and then created an elaborate story about a man driving a maroon colored pick-up truck pulling up and shooting him without provocation as he walked along a desolate stretch of Montana road last week.

Authorities later arrested Lloyd Christopher Danielson III, 52, and charged him with felony assault in connection with the crime. Dolin would finally admit that he had made the entire incident up, and charges have been dropped against Danielson, who remains in jail on unrelated drug charges.

Before admitting it was all just a hoax, Dolin talked at great length with reporters from around the world about the alleged crime, claiming he was writing a photographic coffee table book detailing how kindness still existed in the heart of America.  He would go on to cite several incidences of spontaneous kindness he had experienced during his journey across the country, although those claims are now suspect. He also told reporters that the attack had not changed his mind that kindness still existed in the nation.

It is believed his main motive was to gather enough attention to score a high-dollar book advance from a publishing house as well selling movie rights to his story.
