Earth Changes: Mass of Golf-Ball Sized Volcanic Rocks As Large As Belgium off New Zealand Coast

A mass of golf-ball sized volcanic pumice stones as large as the European nation of Belgium has been discovered floating off the coast of New Zealand.

The mass of stones was first spotted by New Zealand Air Force planes approximately six hundred miles northeast of Auckland. The incredible rock formation stretches over 10,000 square miles, making it larger than Belgium.

A navy ship took scientists to the rock formations yesterday. Naval Lt. Tim Oscar says the rocks appeared a brilliant white under a spotlight, resembling a large ice sheet. Lt. Oscar stated the formation was the "weirdest thing" he's seen during his 18 year career at sea.

The pumice stones are believed to have risen up from the depths of the sea from an as-yet-undiscovered underwater volcano. As the pumice stones are lighter than water, they float to the surface and do not pose any hazard to ships.

At present, scientists do not believe the underwater volcano is related to another New Zealand volcano, Mount Tongariro, which erupted this week for the first time in over one hundred and fifteen years. The eruption was both spectacular and powerful, with an ash cloud thrown over four miles into the sky causing disruption to air as well as ground travel and ruining the plans of thousands of tourists visiting the area on holiday.

The seismic activity follows a disastrous series of earthquakes that struck the South Island city of Christchurch in 2010 and 2011. The city was almost decimated by the powerful February 22, 2011 earthquake, that left several hundred dead, with tens of thousands of homes and businesses damaged beyond repair, including its famed namesake cathedral. The city has seen a mass exodus of nearly half of its former population in the aftermath of the quakes, as strong aftershocks continue to jolt the long-suffering citizens.

Addendum: Could this be a "hit" for the Webbot Project's "New Land Rising" linguistic trend, which began surfacing in the data stream several years ago, along with the much-dreaded "Global Coastal Event" cataclysm that the software has predicted for our current time frame? "Unbelievable" Large Meteor Witnessed by Thousands in New Zealand

A large, bright massive meteor was observed by thousands of people throughout New Zealand.

The enormous object left a long trail as it blazed its way through the skies between the New Zealand cities of Christchurch and Wellington in the early evening hours. Emergency services were quickly inundated with thousands of calls as people telephoned to report sighting the meteor. Sightings of the object came from all corners of the country.

Several residents reported hearing an extremely loud boom followed by shaking ground as the object snaked its way through the sky. One witness reported seeing an "unbelievable'' green, orange and white ball flying past at "super speed'', leaving behind an enormous smoke trail that lasted for nearly 10 minutes in the sky before completely dissipating. Others reported that the meteor moved in a zigzag pattern, rather than a straight line, while others described how it changed colors several times, from yellow to red to a glowing bright white.

Xena Occupying Princess: Lucy Lawless Joins Oil Drilling Protest

She played a tough-as-nails warrior princess on television and now actress Lucy Lawless has taken on a new role as an activist.


Lawless climbed aboard an oil-drilling ship Friday in her native New Zealand, joining six other Greenpeace activists to try to stop the vessel from setting off for an oil expedition trip to the Arctic.

Speaking from atop a 174-foot drilling tower aboard the Noble Discoverer in Port Taranaki, New Zealand, Lawless told members of the press on Friday that strong wind gusts and tough weather conditions were making it difficult to stay aboard but that she and the other protesters planned to occupy the ship for "as long as we possibly can." The activists brought food and other provisions.

Dressed in a bright red jumpsuit and matching helmet, the Spartacus: Blood and Sand actress held up a large banner that read "Stop Shell", referring to the oil company responsible for the drilling expedition in the pristine Arctic waters. Lawless commented to the press that she was taking action for the first time in her life to protest oil drilling and to draw attention to the climate change nightmare currently gripping the globe and its inhabitants in a vise-like grip.

Five police officers did board the ship on Friday, after Shell officials notified the authorities of the on-board protest.  "I'm here today acting on behalf of the planet and my children,'' Lawless said. "Deep sea oil drilling is bad enough, but venturing into the Arctic, one of the most magical places on the planet, is going too far.''

Baa Baa Pink Sheep: New Zealand Nature Park Dyes Sheep Rosy New Shade

"Do ewe like this shade of pink?"

The lyrics to the classic children's nursery rhyme "Baa Baa Black Sheep" will have to be changed while visiting the Sheepworld Nature Park in Auckland, New Zealand, after animal tenders dyed the sheep's wool a bright shade of pink!


Park employees originally dyed the animals as part of breast cancer awareness week, but it proved to be such a hit with visitors that they decided to keep the wooly mammals pink. If you are concerned that the other sheep will be making fun or bullying the smaller, weaker sheep because of being dyed the flaming color, you needn't worry. Experts say that sheep are practically one hundred percent color blind, so there won't be any ostracized lambs standing alone on a New Zealand hill, being left out of all the sheep games. 

The park also assures everyone that they use only organic colorings in the dye and no harm comes to the sheep during the dying process.

Series of Powerful Earthquakes Rock New Zealand...Again...

A powerful series of earthquakes struck Christchurch, New Zealand, today, swaying buildings and knocking out electricity and other essential utilities, further traumatizing the populace of a city already devastated by a catastrophic series of earthquakes over the past year.

A 5.8 temblor struck during the lunch hour, close to the same time a terrifying 6.3 quake hit in February, which caused billions of dollars in damages to the city and claimed almost two hundred lives. The February quake destroyed Christchurch's famed cathedral and leveled the entire business district. Today's earthquake hit as Christmas shoppers and workers filled the city center for lunch, sending panicked citizens out into the streets, fearing buildings and homes would collapse.

Roads and pavement cracked open and sand geysers gushed up from the porous ground on which most of the city lies. A Qantas flight bound for Christchurch from Australia was diverted and other airlines sent planes to nearby Wellington and Auckland airports for safety reasons.  

A second 5.8 quake hit approximately an hour after the first. Since February's quake, the city has seen a mass Exodus of citizens, with thousands of people abandoning their beyond-repair homes and moving to other areas of the country to start their lives anew.
