Whitney Houston's biggest success as an actress, the 1992 hit film The Bodyguard, will be re-released in movie theaters across the US for an exclusive one night only engagement. The special re-release is to commemorate the movie's 20th anniversary as well as to mark the tragic passing of its leading lady, who died last month at the age of 48.
The film, co-starring Kevin Costner, was a semi-autobiographical account of Houston's own life as a talented and world-famous singer, and was a surprise box office smash success upon its initial release, bringing in almost half a billion dollars worldwide. The film's soundtrack also spawned Whitney's biggest hit song, a cover version of the Dolly Parton classic torch song "I Will Always Love You", which went to Number One in every country in the world with a published music chart.
Kevin Costner spoke at Whitney's funeral, commenting that she didn't feel she was a good enough actress for the role, saying "Whitney, if you could hear me now, I would tell you you weren’t just good enough. You were great.”

With the sad news of the death of singing superstar Whitney Houston, I just felt the need to reflect on what she meant to me...
Her incredible talent, energy and breath-taking beauty were an inspiration to hundreds of millions of people around the world. Bursting onto the scene in the mid-1980s, her angelic voice and supermodel looks enthralled the planet, and she scored hit after hit after hit. No matter if she was singing a soul-stirring ballad or a dance floor anthem, she put everything into her performances. For a long period of years in the 80s and 90s, she was one of the most popular and top-selling recording artists.
When she was hit by the acting bug, Hollywood beckoned, banking on her gorgeous looks and incredible singing talent to carry her through a movie. In 1992, she hit the big time with the film The Bodyguard co-starring Oscar winner Kevin Costner. The movie was a smash hit, and Houston's recording of the Dolly Parton standard "I Will Always Love You" cemented her position as one of the world's most talented and beloved singers. The song topped the charts in practically every country in the world, winning her even more accolades and awards.
She certainly had the pedigree for singing greatness, being the cousin of singing legend Dionne Warwick and the god-daughter to the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin. Her mother Cissy Houston was also a well-known and highly-respected singer.
The singer began experiencing career setbacks in the late-90s, and she became the fodder for the tabloids with her tempestuous relationship with former New Edition bad boy singer Bobby Brown. She stuck by Brown during his many run-ins with the law and jail sentences, even as she drew great criticism. Speculation of her drug use was rampant, as she exhibited odd behavior in public. Her looks began to suffer, and her voice, once spectacular and pristine, began to crack and break. Her concert performances, once a top international draw, began to dry up as well.
However it will be discovered how she died, I will prefer to keep my memories of a happy, beautiful and amazing Whitney Houston in my mind. Whenever I was feeling a little depressed or sad about something, all I had to do was listen to one of her songs such as "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)" or "How Will I Know?" and my sadness would completely disappear for those three minutes. Listening to those songs right now won't make me happy, I'm afraid. They will just remind me of what the world has lost at a far too young age. In time, however, I will remember just how happy those songs made me, and this will be her great legacy to the world. Goodbye, Whitney... I will always love you...
Superstar Singer Whitney Houston may be getting So Emotional if rumors about her current financial situation are true...
An anonymous "friend" of the chanteuse is claiming that she has allegedly run through her estimated $100 million fortune and is now "broke as a joke". The source also claims that she is in such a dire financial situation that she has resorted to calling friends and family, begging to borrow $100 in cash at a time.
Houston, who once starred in the blockbuster movie The Bodyguard with Kevin Costner, is currently filming her comeback film Sparkle, in which she co-stars as American Idol winner Jordin Sparks' mother. The singer, who was one of the most successful recording acts of the 80s and 90s, signed one of the biggest record deals in history in 2001, valued at over $100 million for six albums. Unfortunately, the contract has only produced three new albums, including her flop 2009 release I Look to You.
Houston had to pay ex-husband, troubled ex-con (and New Edition member) Bobby Brown, millions of dollars in a costly divorce. She has also continually battled drug addiction over the years, checking herself in and out of rehab on several occasions, in spite of her claims to Oprah that she has never done drugs. Shocking photographs of her teenage daughter Bobbi Kristina allegedly snorting cocaine made the tabloids last year.
A spokesperson for Houston calls the claims about her financial situation "totally false and ridiculous".
Whitney Houston has long been known as a Diva but her entitled behavior almost got her thrown off a plane on Wednesday! Seems La Houston was scheduled on a flight to Detroit leaving out of Atlanta when she decided to up the 'Tude Factor and refuse to put on her seat belt. The flight attendant kindly informed the singing superstar that if she didn't fasten her belt, she would be in violation of Federal Aviation guidelines and would be not-so-discreetly escorted from the plane by burly armed officers from the Department of Homeland Security! Having seen her ex-husband Bobby Brown taken away in cuffs every other day during their long and tumultuous marriage, Ms. Whitney thought the better of it, and decided that she had better buckle up and enjoy another glass of champagne. That's a Good Diva!
