She's Lovin' It: Woman Offers Sex in Exchange for Chicken McNuggets

A Los Angeles woman must have had a hankering for some Chicken McNuggets after she was arrested for soliciting sex for the McDonald's mystery meat.

Police report that Khadijah Baseer of Los Angeles was allegedly witnessed approaching automobiles during the late night hours going through a Burbank, California, McDonald's, randomly opening doors and offering men sexual favors in exchange for the McNuggets she simply could not do without!

A man told the police Baseer approached him with the offer he simply could not accept. Staff at the restaurant called the police, who promptly arrived to arrest the woman on suspicion of prostitution. Now, I haven't eaten a Chicken McNugget since I was about ten, when I ate them with my Happy Meal. From what I remember, they are nothing to write home about, but I guess to each his or her own...

Leave It to Beaver: Did Ricky Gervais Out Jodie Foster at Golden Globes?

People tuned in to see what outspoken comedian Ricky Gervais would say as the host of  last night's Golden Globe Awards ceremony live from Hollywood, and they weren't disappointed!

The always spot-on actor did manage to drop the dreaded F-bomb, which is why the censors had asked for a seven second delay to bleep out any obscenities The Office creator might blurt out. It also appears that Gervais may have outed Silence of the Lambs actress Jodie Foster, with a double entendre laced joke regarding the flop film The Beaver, which she directed and co-starred her good friend, troubled actor Mel Gibson. He noted that while he had not "seen Jodie Foster's Beaver " he had "spoken to a lot of guys here, they haven't seen it either. That doesn't mean it's not any good."

Far from being shocked or upset about the joke, cameras panned to Foster, who was in the audience, as she smiled and gave Gervais two thumbs up, showing her approval. The Academy Award winning actress' sexuality has long been a source of rumor and gossip in Hollywood, but the superstar has never formally discussed her sexuality in public.

All in all, Gervais' hosting of the award ceremony is being considered a smash hit.

"Let's get this straight, my beaver is strictly off-limits!"

Beyoncé Buzz: Singer Has Horse Fly Named After Her

Brand new Mommy & superstar singer Beyoncé has another reason to shake her booty: She now has a horse fly named in her honor!

It seems scientists decided to name a rare Australian horse fly after the performer because the bootylicious insect has a prominent backside, which apparently reminded them of Beyoncé.

The Scaptia (Plinthina) beyonceae fly is found only in the remote far north of Queensland, Australia, and was first discovered in 1981, which also happens to be the year that Beyoncé was hatched born. According to Bryan Lessard from Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, the fly is known as the “all-time diva of flies.”

Beyoncé is not the only star to have had insects or other animals named after them. Baywatch beach runner David Hasselhoff recently had a species of hairy-chested crabs named after him and The Police rocker Sting has a species of frogs (shouldn't it have been a species of bee?) with his moniker.

After the ridiculous rumors that Jay Z and  Beyoncé named their newborn daughter Blue Ivy after the daughter of Satan, we're certain she doesn't mind an insect buzzing around with her name...

True Colors: Cyndi Lauper Demands Song Be Removed from Political Smear Campaign

"Political mud-slinging makes me cry..."

"Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" rocker Cyndi Lauper has demanded that another one of her popular 80s hits "True Colors" be removed from an online ad smearing Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

The iconic singer tweeted about the incident after she was informed by a follower on twitter regarding the online advertisement. "Got a phone call saying my version of True Colors was used in commercial trashing Romney," Lauper said in a string of tweets beginning on January 12. She continued, "1st, I never approved it. Not that I  [am supporter of Romney's], I'm not. But I wouldn't have wanted that song to be used in that way. I think...Whoever used my song should have asked, and 2, realized that Mr Romney can discredit himself without the use of my work. X cyn."

Lauper admitted that she was completely unaware of the copyright infringement until she was notified by the fan.  She says that "True Colors" is a song about healing and is definitely not appropriate to be used for political mud-slinging and bad-mouthing. The ad was removed from YouTube after a copyright claim was filed by Sony BME, Lauper's record label.

Bed, Bath & Bio-Hazard? Home Furnishing Store Recalls Radioactive Tissue Holders

Home furnishing department store Bed, Bath & Beyond has recalled thousands of tissue dispensers after tests showed they contained low-levels of a radioactive material.

The California Department of Public Health announced on Friday that boxes called Dual Ridge Metal Boutique tissue boxes with the model number DR9M, contain radioactive material cobalt-60. The discovery was made after radiation alarms were triggered during a routine check of a truck at an inspection station that was bound for the retailer's stores in Santa Clara and San Jose, California.

The company said that the dispensers had been sold since July 2011 in at least two hundred of the store's retail outlets across the US and Canada. The dispenser was also available for purchase on the retailer's website.

The company also said in an official statement regarding the incident that the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission had stated that there was no danger from the item, but the company would offer customers who had purchased the item a refund.

An investigation on how the objects became tainted with radioactive material in the first place has been launched. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission said that scrap metal containing the cobalt-60, a man-made radioactive material used for cancer radiation therapy, could have been sprayed into a metal load smelted in India which was later incorporated into the tissue boxes before being shipped to the United States.

Because We Only Have One Life to Live: Soap Ends After 43 Years

The long-running ABC daytime drama One Life to Live faded to black yesterday after more than 43 years of being on the air.

The beloved soap was created by the legendary Agnes Nixon, who also created sister series All My Children, which went off the air with a Bang! in October. ABC daytime executive Brian Frons announced last April his plans to ax the two warhorse series to make way for cheaper-to-produce, unscripted "reality" series such as The Chew. (Frons is no longer head of daytime over at ABC after stepping down in December, but alas, too late to save the soaps.)

One Life to Live was set in the fictional town of Llanview, Pennsylvania, and initially followed the trials and tribulations of the Lord and Buchanan families. Popular actress Erica Slezak portrayed the long-suffering character of Victoria Lord Gordon Riley Burke Riley Buchanan Buchanan Carpenter Davidson Banks since 1971. Slezak would go on to win a record six Daytime Emmy Awards for her always-riveting portrayal of Vicki who endured the slings and arrows of life on a soap opera, which included being shot, a cancer scare, multiple marriages and divorces, time travel, becoming trapped in a mysterious, underground city, as well as having Multiple Personality Disorder, when her naughty alter-ego Nicki would emerge.

The soap was an important launch pad for countless rising talent over the years. Stars such as Tommy Lee Jones, Marcia Cross, Laurence Fishburn, Ryan Phillippe, and Roma Downey received their big breaks acting on the show. Who's the Boss' Judith Light won back-to-back Emmy Awards for her searing portrayal of socialite turned hooker Karen Wolek in the early-1980s. (If you've never watched a single scene from One Life to Live over the past forty-three years, do yourself a favor and watch Light's famous courtroom scene below:)

Fans of OLTL that were heart-broken by the cancellation announcement in April were temporarily given a reprieve when Prospect Park purchased the rights to the show and planned to continue the series in an online format. The plans fell through, however, and soap fans around the country heard the death knell for their beloved genre ringing loudly.

As family dynamics and demographics changed over the years, less and less people had time to spend watching an hour long series each and every single week day. With the explosion of the Internet and the rising popularity of cable network television, daytime dramas continued to watch their viewership shrink and decline over the years. During the 1970s, there were 20 daytime dramas on television; with the cancellation of OLTL, there are now only four series left on the air: The Young & The Restless, The Bold & The Beautiful, Days of Our Lives and General Hospital.

My advice to fans of the series still left on the air is to watch and support your favorite. Don't take it for granted that it will still continue broadcasting, no matter how many years you have been an ardent fan...

Forever Lazy: Woman Wears Onesie in Public, People Think She's Nuts

If you've watched any television at all prior to the holidays, chances are you probably saw an ad for the Forever Lazy  onesie. Yes, that comfy cozy outfit you wore as a toddler with your diapers has returned...and now it's for grown ups!

Cafe Mom Blogger Lindsay Ferrier decided she'd take that dare and wore her blue Forever Lazy out in public and filmed people's reactions to her unique fashion choice. Lindsay took a stroll through an upscale Nashville shopping district, dressed to sleep kill in her très chic onesie, while asking complete strangers what they thought of her outfit.

Most people were intrigued by the outfit's easy-access back-flap, for those extra-lazy bathroom runs. She even met a musician from New Zealand in a local park, who quickly penned an impromptu jingle for the Forever Lazy that I'm certain will end up being featured in one of their cheesy commercials. She also experiences a rapturous Julie Andrews Sound of Music moment while in the park. You can check out Lindsay modeling the lazy prêt-à-porter in the following video:

Slave to Love: Bryan Ferry Marries Son's Ex-Girlfriend

Former Roxy Music singer Bryan Ferry was married to 29-year-old publicist Amanda Sheppard earlier this month in a private ceremony at the exclusive Amanyara resort on the Caribbean island of Turks & Caicos, it has been revealed.

Ferry, 66, married Sheppard, some 37 years his junior, after she had briefly dated the singer's son, Isaac, now 26. Sheppard moved in with the elder Ferry two years ago, after breaking off the relationship with his son.

It is the second marriage for Ferry, who divorced his first wife Lucy Henmore, with whom he has four sons, in 2003, after twenty-one years of marriage. He once dated former model Jerry Hall, who later left him for Rolling Stone frontman Mick Jagger.

Ferry was awarded the Commander of the British Empire (CBE) from Queen Elizabeth in December.

It's Friday the 13th, I'm in Love

If you suffer from paraskevidekatriaphobia...the irrational fear of Friday the 13th, then 2012 simply won't be your year. (And you thought the Mayan calendar ending this year was something to worry about...)

There will be three Friday the 13th dates this year, and they will each be 13 weeks apart. Three Friday the 13th's happen every few years. The last time it occurred was in 2009 and the next will be in 2015. What is rare about this event is that it is happening on a leap year. It won't happen again on a leap year until the year 2040. The last time it took place during a leap year was 1984 (A famous year like 2012, because of that George Orwell novel. Yes, Big Brother is watching you!!!)

The Monster Gets His Due: Joran Van der Sloot Sentenced to Prison

Joran Van der Sloot received a 28 year prison sentence after pleading guilty to the murder of 21-year-old Stephany Flores in Lima, Peru, in 2010.

Van der Sloot, 24, had long been suspected in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, who mysteriously vanished while on vacation in Aruba in 2005. Van der Sloot denied any involvement in her disappearance and was never charged in connection with the case. He was secretly taped by hidden cameras admitting that he did kill Holloway for a Dutch television program in 2008.

Van der Sloot plead guilty to murdering Stephany Flores after meeting her at a casino in Lima, Peru, where he was participating in an international poker tournament. The murder took place exactly five years to the day of Holloway's disappearance. Van der Sloot was quickly apprehended after the murder trying to escape Peru by entering neighboring Chile.

Sweating profusely and displaying little emotion, Van der Sloot hung his head as the lengthy list of charges against him were read in court. The Dutch native's lawyers had hoped a guilty plea would help give him a lighter sentence, but the Peruvian judge presiding over the case had other plans. The judge ordered him to serve 28 years of a maximum 30-year-sentence, doing hard time in a Peruvian  prison.

Like Crack: Studies Show Internet Addiction Similar to Drug or Alcohol Addictions

Research science has proven for the first time that Internet addiction is similar to addictions to drugs or alcohol. Tests show that people who spend large amounts of time on the Internet or playing video games experience similar changes in brain function and wave patterns as people who have addiction or dependency problems.

In the groundbreaking new study, researchers used MRI scanners to reveal abnormalities in the brains of teenagers who spent many hours browsing the Internet, even to the detriment of their social and personal lives. The report comes after a recent incident made headlines regarding a gamer dying of a blood clot after spending more than twenty hours non-stop playing games online.

An estimated five to ten percent of Internet users are believed to be addicted and are unable to control the amount of time spent surfing the information superhighway. The majority of those addicted are hardcore gamers who become so absorbed in their online activities that they go without food, drink or sleep for long periods of time and their education, work and inter-personal relationships suffer.

The test findings could throw light on other behavioral problems and lead to the development of new treatments and therapies to help people overcome their addictions.

In School, No One Can Hear You Scream: Conn. School Under Fire for "Scream Rooms"

A school in Middletown, Connecticut, has come under fire for placing unruly or disruptive students in so-called "scream rooms".

Parents in the upscale New York City suburb are outraged over allegations that school staff and administration at Farm Hill Elementary have taken to removing problem students from the class and placing them  in a separate, closet-sized room with concrete walls and no windows. (AKA a prison cell.) Parents became concerned after children began telling them about the "scream room", with many of the students expressing great fear at going to school out of concern of being placed in the cell. “Kids come home and they cry, because they’re afraid to go to school. And it’s often,” one parent told a local news channel investigating the story.

Reports of children harming themselves while in the room have also surfaced. (Shouldn't the school have invested in a padded cell to prevent the little ones from harming themselves, like the ones mental facilities use?) School Superintendent Michael Freschette claims that allegations of children harming themselves in the timeout rooms are not true. However, the Board of Education is currently investigating all allegations against the school.

A Greek Tragedy: Families Abandon Children in the Streets as Euro Crisis Hits Nadir

A Greek tragedy is unfolding, as the Mediterranean nation struggles with economic disaster and unendurable austerity measures as the Euro crisis continues unabated.

Families have now taken to abandoning their sick or disabled children in the streets, as they are unable to afford health care or to provide food or shelter for their own offspring. The Daily Mail reports that children are being left abandoned in hospitals and shelters in record numbers since the economic super-crisis began in 2008, as Greece has found itself on the verge of defaulting on trillions of dollars of debt the country owes to other nations.

Civil unrest and riots gripped the nation early last year, as tough new austerity measures were introduced by the government in response to the crisis, as the country careened to the brink of economic collapse. Reports now say that the nation is also rapidly running out of important medicines and even basic staples such as aspirin are difficult to find on pharmacy shelves.

Pharmacists are struggling to stock their shelves as the Greek government, which sets the prices for drugs, keeps them artificially low. This means that pharmaceutical companies are turning to sell the drugs outside of the country for a higher price in order to turn a profit, leading to stock depletion for Greeks in need of medication. Pharmacists report spending hours on the telephone, desperately trying to locate needed medications for sick and suffering patients, many times to no avail.

As the crisis deepens, other European nations are promoting the idea of Greece leaving the currency, in a last ditch effort to save the Euro and avert catastrophic economic collapse throughout the continent.

1 Minute Closer: Doomsday Clock Moves Minute Forward for End of the World Scenario

Scientists have reset the world famous Doomsday Clock one minute closer to Hour Zero, midnight, after a perilous 2011. The clock, first introduced during the Cold War between the United States and the former Soviet Union during the 1960s, measures the threat of a world-ending nuclear Armageddon.

Scientists and global threat experts decided to move the clock's time up to five minutes to midnight in response to Japan's Fukushima nuclear plant meltdown as well as Iran and North Korea's continued plans to produce nuclear weapons. The catastrophic earthquake and tsunami in Japan created the worst nuclear accident the world has ever witnessed at the stricken Fukushima facility, which went into a complete meltdown.

Also considered was an extremely long list of natural disasters during the year, which have placed a huge threat to the global food supply, as well as the continued rise in cost of fuel and basic energy supplies needed to keep key infrastructure running smoothly. Major breakdowns in the food and energy supply could create tense situations between nations, experts have warned. China's increasing military might has also been given as a reason for the change in the clock, as the Asian superpower spends trillions of dollars on military war craft and weapons, while engaging in war of rhetoric and saber-rattling with the United States.

The crumbling global economy was cited as another reason for the clock to move forward one minute, as well as increasing incidences of civil unrest and revolution that quickly encompassed the globe in 2011. The clock last changed in January 2010, when it moved back one minute, as assessments indicated a lessened threat of nuclear war or incident.

Tweedle Dee Meets Dum: Ahmadinejad & Chavez Joke About Dropping A-Bomb on Washington

Chavez & Ahmadinejad merrily pose for the cameras.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad met with Venezuela's president Hugo Chavez yesterday on the Iranian leader's whirlwind tour down the Rabbit Hole. Ahmadinejad lavished great praise upon the ailing Hugo Chavez, with Chavez reciprocating.

"Despite those arrogant people who do not wish us to be together, we will unite forever," Ahmadinejad spoke during a press conference with the Socialist leader of the oil-rich South American nation. The Iranian fruitcake leader was in Venezuela to seek support from rogue, off the charts nations in regards to its ambitious nuclear upstart program. The two leaders gave each other big bear hugs and even held hands for the cameras. (Awwww...a Love Story has obviously blossomed!)

Chavez, who recently blamed the United States for giving him cancer, also joked that there was a bomb beneath the steps of his lavish Miraflores palace in Caracas waiting for any US invasion. "Ahmadinejad and I are going into the Miraflores basement now to set our sights on Washington and launch cannons and missiles," he said, without the slightest hint of irony.

As well as Venezuela, Ahmadinejad plans to visit Nicaragua, Cuba and Ecuador - a visit that Washington has said shows its "desperation" for friends.
