Guam Undaunted by North Korean Threat

Residents of the Pacific island nation of Guam remain undaunted after North Korea's leader Kim Jung Un listed it recently as a possible target for "nuclear annihilation" after the rouge dictatorship ratcheted up the war drums and rhetoric against Washington this week. (North Korea also listed Hawaii and the Japanese island of Okinawa as possible targets.)

Most of the island's 180,000 residents are not taking the threats very seriously, although some have made plans to seek shelter should the unthinkable happen. Most of the citizens are accustomed to the sound of fighter jets and the sight of war maneuvers, as the islands have held an American military installation since World War II when Guam officially became a US territory.

The island has since had a rather sleepy, quiet reputation. Until the brouhaha surrounding the threats from Pyongyang, the biggest threat to the island's populace has been typhoon season and an overpopulation of non-indigenous snakes introduced to the area via large cargo ships from other countries.

The White House, however, is not taking the North Korean threat quite as lightly as the laid-back citizens of Guam. Naval battleships have been dispatched to the area and an anti-missile system capable of knocking any rockets out of the sky before they reach their targets will also be installed.

As North Korea Prepares for War, Parents Turn to Eating Their Children for Survival

As Pyongyang prepares for nuclear war with the United States, dire reports are sneaking out of North Korea that desperate parents are turning to cannibalism of their own children to survive the current famine sweeping across the infamously oppressive nation.

The Sunday Times is reporting that at least one North Korean father was recently executed by firing squad after it was revealed he had murdered and eaten two of his children during the current food shortage, which started last year and has left as many as 10,000 people dead from starvation and disease.

“While [the man's] wife was away on business he killed his eldest daughter and because his son saw what he had done, he killed his son as well," an anonymous informant told Asia Press. When his wife returned home, he offered her "fresh meat", which immediately made her suspicious, as meat is extremely difficult to obtain in the famine-ravaged rogue nation. The anguished mother also saw the remnants of her children's corpses decomposing outside of their home.

The Telegraph reported that at least three people have been put to death for resorting to cannibalism in the past year. Informants also are reporting horrific stories of a man arrested for digging up and eating his dead grandchild, and "a man who went mad with hunger" and boiled his child for dinner.

Rumors persist that during the height of the North Korean famine in the late-1990s, citizens bought, sold and traded human flesh in open air markets, as no other food was available for consumption. 

News of the current food crisis comes as the North Korean government and its unsteady leader Kim Jong Un continue to saber rattle, threatening to continue with their long-range nuclear missile program capable of striking South Korea, Japan and even the United States.

Socks from Heaven: South Korea Sends Warm Socks to the North via Balloons

An activist group in South Korea has sent over one thousand pairs of warm, wooly socks to the long-suffering citizens of North Korea...attached to enormous balloons.

Crates of the socks were sent high up into the heavens attached to five balloons while the breeze was blowing in the right direction toward the North Korean border from the South Korean city of Paju. The Seoul-based activist group called North Korea Peace also attached "innocuous non-political" messages with the socks. "We're not interested in sending political messages or sparking any troubles there. All we want is that people in the North wear warm socks over their frozen feet," states North Korea Peace spokesperson Sunny Kim.

Socks are apparently so hard to come by in North Korea, that they are often traded for cash. One pair of warm socks can be traded for 22 lbs. of corn, which can sustain an individual for approximately one month. Information sneaking out of the communist nation tells of a nightmarish existence for the North Koreans, including millions of deaths each year from starvation, disease, and exposure.

Relations with the two countries continue to be strained, even in the light of former North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il's death last month of a heart attack at the age of 69. Power has since been transferred to Il's son, Kim Jong Un.

The Grinch of Pyongyang: North Korea Threatens to Shoot Down Christmas Tree Tower

"Look everybody, it's the Star of Bethlehem! Wait, that's a rocket from the North! Ruuunnn!"

The Christmas Grinch has been found this year, and he lives in Pyongyang, North Korea!

The atheist rogue nation of North Korea has threatened to shoot out the lights of a giant Christmas tree-shaped tower that neighbor South Korea plans to illuminate near the tense militarized border between the two countries!  South Korea plans to turn on about 100,000 lights on the 100 foot-tall steel tower in the shape of a Christmas tree at the top of Aegibong Hill for a second year, located some two miles from the border with North Korea. 

Government officials in the North Korean capital, Pyongyang, say that switching on the Christmas lights is an act of sheer propaganda because the twinkling beacons of hope will be visible with the naked eye from the major northern border city of Kaesong.  North Korea, ruled beneath the crushing dictatorship of mini-whack job Kim Jong Il,  believes the lights on the border of prosperous South Korea will be viewed by North Koreans as a sign of affluence of the South and will weaken the regime’s ideological control of its people, who are currently suffering through one of the worst famines in decades.          

So, the psychos of Pyongyang would shoot down a Christmas tree tower, but would let this hideous eyesore of a skyscraper, the decades-unfinished Pyongyang Hotel, stand?
