Potty Break: 3-Year-Old Genius Proves She's Still Just a Kid on Live TV

3-year-old Emmelyn Roetteger might be the youngest member of the international genius club MENSA, but the adorable, super-intelligent tyke just wants everyone to know she's still a precocious little kid at heart.


With an IQ tested at 135, adorable Emmelyn and her parents were invited to be guests on last Friday's Today show in New York City. Reporter Natalie Morales was given the task of interviewing the little genius along with her parents, Michelle and Glen.

The interview starts off well enough, with Morales asking Emmelyn about insects and the intricacies of our solar system, but little Emme is more interested in mugging it up and waving at the camera while watching herself on the studio monitors. Exactly like any other 3-year-old would do.

Finally, Emmelyn grows weary of all the attention, announcing that her "tummy hurts" and that she "has to poop". As Morales continues to interview the parents and ignoring Emmelyn's pleas for a potty break. Yeah, you always want to ignore a three-year-old when they announce they have to go potty. That always ends well...

Overdue: Police Visit 4-Year-Old For Overdue Library Books

A four-year-old in Pennsylvania received a frightening life lesson when the terrified tyke was visited by cops regarding some overdue library books.

Katelyn Jageman’s books were due back to the Freeport Area Library on Oct. 19, 2011, but as of this past week, the books had not been returned. Library officials, who had tried to contact Katelyn's family regarding the books without success, then turned the matter over to the local police department.

“It’s a rare incident, but it does occur,” said Donna Michael, President of the Freeport Area Library Board. After a series of phone calls and letters were issued to the family with no response, Michael admits she contacted the local authorities regarding the matter.

The library does not receive federal funding and must rely on paid memberships, donations, and fees in order to survive. Little Katelyn's overdue fees for the books adds up to a rather steep $81.60. The fee must be paid before Jageman's library privileges can be restored.

Attached: Man Implants Magnets Beneath Skin to Hold iPod in Place

A New Jersey man is really attached to his iPod...after having magnets implanted beneath his skin to hold the portable contraption in place!

Tattoo artist Dave Hurban documented his body modification process in a video that has become a viral hit on YouTube, with more than half a million views. The video, which Hurban has titled "iDermal", shows the 21-year-old making holes in his left wrist and inserting four small magnets known as micro-dermal anchors beneath his flesh.

After the self-inflicted procedure, he merrily attached the iPod to his wrist, with the magnets holding the device firmly in place. Hurban originally conceived the idea for the skin-crawling magnets after finding it difficult to strap his iPod in place to listen to his favorite tunes while jogging.

Hurban claims that the procedure, which took approximately 30 minutes to complete and was done without any anesthesia, was not as painful as perhaps it looks on video. "It definitely is not the worst piercing I've ever done to myself," he stated, without going into further detail.

This could definitely be the wave of the future. In March, telecom giant Nokia issued a patent for a "vibrating tattoo" that would inform a person they had received a telephone call or text message. 

Slither: Guam Taken Over by Snake Invasion

The tiny island nation of Guam faces a big problem...the country is infested with up to two million snakes!

The US territory, in the western Pacific, is only 50km (30 miles) long and 10km wide, but it is jam-packed with as many as 2 million of the slithering serpents. The infestation can be traced back to World War II, when it is believed the brown tree snake, a native of northern Australia and Papua New Guinea, was brought to the island on ships carrying equipment to be processed in Guam. More than likely, a snake or two were stowaways on one or more of the transport ships, and decided to make Guam its permanent residence!

Over the years, the mildly-venomous snake exploded in population and increasingly became a menace.  The snakes have decimated 10 out of Guam's 12 native bird species in the past 30 years, and are now preying on small mammals and native lizards, threatening even more species with extinction!

Guam is now having to fight back to reclaim the land and to prevent the snakes from wiping out all of the indigenous wildlife. Mice laced with acetaminophen, a drug commonly used as a pain reliever, are being airlifted and then parachuted across the jungles as a food source for the snakes. The drug, harmless to humans in safe doses, is toxic to the snakes after they consume the mice.

The snakes are not only threatening local animal species, they are also wreaking havoc by showing up in people's beds and causing blackouts so frequently that power outages are known locally as "brown outs."

The Riddler: Venezuelan Man Accused of Plotting to Kill Chavez Sibling Via Crossword Puzzle

The Venezuelan government believe a man responsible for writing crossword puzzles for popular newspaper Últimas Noticias coded a call for the assassination of president Hugo Chavez' brother Adan, who is the governor of the state of Barinas, within the clues.

It may sound like something out of a John Le Carré novel, but state officials have accused longtime puzzle writer Neptali Segovia of using specific wording that reference the killing of the ailing Head of State's brother. Specifically, the use of the Spanish-language words Adan (Chavez' brother), rafaga (which can mean a burst of gunfire or a swift wind) and the term asesinen (which is the plural of the imperative verb to kill).

The accusation against Segovia was made earlier this week by television pundit and staunch Chavez supporter Miguel Angel Perez Pirela, who presents a news program on the state-controlled network VTV. Pirela  claimed a team of psychologists and mathematicians had concluded that the crossword indeed contained a coded assassination plot against Chavez's brother Adan, who is viewed by many as a possible successor to his brother should he no longer be able to fulfill his duties as president.

Chavez returned home to Venezuela on Friday, after having gone to Cuba to continue with radiation treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer. 

Prince Harry the Pygmy Hippo Dies

Prince Harry, the adorable pygmy hippopotamus rejected by its mother who became an internet sensation, has died suddenly.

The 3-month old cutie, who was being hand raised at the Cango Wildlife Ranch in Outdshoorn, South Africa, died suddenly from respiratory arrest and heart failure while having emergency surgery to repair an umbilical hernia. Despite repeated attempts by staff to revive the animal, he never regained consciousness and died on the operating table. 

The tiny hippo quickly became an internet sensation after photographs of him giving a care-giver a tender smooch on the nose were posted on the wildlife ranch's official website as well as their Facebook page. 

During his short life, Harry helped raise awareness of the plight of the endangered pygmy hippo in Africa, of which there are only an estimated 3,000 remaining in the wild. To view more photographs of tiny Harry or to leave a note of condolence, you may visit Prince Harry's Facebook page. 

Drawn This Way: Lady GaGa's Simpson Caricature Revealed

Pop superstar Lady Gaga has definitely reached the pinnacle of success as her likeness for an upcoming episode of The Simpsons has been revealed.

Gaga joins the ranks of such legendary performers as Michael Jackson, Bette Midler, Sting and Paul McCartney by being forever immortalized as a Simpson's character. Fox Television has released a teaser clip of the outrageous singer's performance on the episode, titled "Lisa Goes Ga-Ga".

In the clip, Lady Zsa-Zsa (as clueless Grandpa Simpson calls her) dons a flame-throwing bullet bra that would make rival Madonna envious and tempts Homer into yet more gluttony by wearing her famous meat dress from the MTV Video Music Awards. She gives Baby Maggie some fashion tips and will be certain to induce Bart into more mischief-making while teaching his sister Lisa a lesson on feminism and female empowerment as mother Marge groans her disapproval.

The "Born This Way" singer calls her animated experience one of the coolest things she has ever done.  The episode featuring Lady Gaga will premiere on May 20. You can watch the teaser trailer on YouTube below:

From New Girl to Coal Miner's Daughter: Zooey Deschanel to Play Loretta Lynn

The star of Fox's breakout hit sitcom The New Girl, the adorably geeky actress Zooey Deschanel, will have a new gig...starring as legendary country music singer Loretta Lynn on Broadway!

Zooey, the sister of Bones star and producer Emily Deschanel, announced on her Twitter feed yesterday: "Loretta Lynn asked me to do Coal Miner's Daughter on Broadway! I said YES!"

Lynn made the official announcement during a performance at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium yesterday, where she was joined on stage by Deschanel for a rendition of the singer's signature tune about growing up poor in the Appalachian mountains. The play will be based on Lynn's bestselling autobiography of the same name.

"It's a long way from Butcher Holler [Kentucky] to Broadway in New York City," says Lynn in a statement.

Deschanel has some big shoes to fill. Actress Sissy Spacek famously tackled the role of the country superstar and won the Academy Award for Best Actress in the big screen version of Coal Miner's Daughter in 1980.

The schedule for the upcoming Broadway show will not conflict with Deschanel’s current commitment to New Girl according to a news release. This will be Zooey's Broadway debut. In addition to having her own career as a solo singing artist, she performs with musician M. Ward in the band She & Him.

The Abyss: Bizarre, Mysterious Sea Creature Filmed

A mysterious, unidentified creature caught on camera deep underwater has scientists scratching their heads as to what exactly the beast could be!

The cameras caught sight of the strange-looking creature deep beneath the surface of the ocean off the coast of the United Kingdom, on an oil drilling site. The beast is a brackish brown in color and appears to have scales. It moves much like an octopus or squid, but looks as if it has several strange appendages poking out. It also appears to have what should be internal organs on the outside of its body.

Some scientists claim that the animal is a Deepstaria enigmatica jellyfish, with others speculating it could be a mass of expelled whale placenta floating in the water.

There is also a mystery surrounding the origins of the video, as the video was originally uploaded to YouTube without any explanation of the contents or when and where the film was shot. To take a look at the strange creature of the Abyss, you can watch the video below:

Vladimir Putin Says Nyet to G8 Summit

Russian president Vladimir Putin has stunned the US by giving an emphatic Nyet to attending next week's G8 Summit, scheduled to be held at Camp David in Maryland.

Putin, who was elected Russian president for a third term after serving one term as the country's prime minister, has told White House officials that he will be too busy to attend the strategic summit, which is a  forum for the governments of eight of the world's largest economies.

An official statement from the Kremlin read, "Noting his responsibilities to finalize cabinet appointments in the new Russian government, President Putin expressed his regret that he would be unable to attend the G8 Summit." In his place, Russia will send former president and now current prime minister Dmitry Medvedev, with whom US president Barack Obama has a more cordial relationship.

Putin—a sharp critic of the US president and his policies during his re-election campaign—will meet Obama on the sidelines of the G20 conference in Mexico next month instead. The news of the snub comes a week after Russian officials threatened to use "preemptive, destructive force" if the United States went ahead with scheduled plans to install a missile defense system in eastern Europe.

The summit, which is to take place May 18-19, will also be the official welcoming of newly-elected French president Françoise Hollande, who ousted Nicolas Sarkozy after serving only one term of office.

Famed Fashion Icon Vidal Sassoon Dead at 84

Stylist Vidal Sasoon creating his signature bob on fashion designer Mary Quant

Famed hairstylist and fashion icon Vidal Sassoon has passed away at his Mulholland Drive home in Beverly Hills, California. He was 84-years-old and had been battling an undisclosed illness, believed to be leukemia, since 2009. He died with family and close friends by his side.

The name Sassoon became forever associated with hair care when the English-born stylist opened his first hair salon in London in 1954. Along with fashion designers Mary Quant and André Courrèges, Sassoon helped created the "Mod"/Carnaby Street look of the mid-1960s, complete with Quant's hugely-popular mini-skirt designs, Courrèges' knee-high go-go boots and Sassoon's signature short, pixie-like bob hairstyle, made famous by English supermodel Twiggy and actress Mia Farrow.

Sassoon's chain of hair salons were highly successful, opening in cosmopolitan world capitals and drawing rich and famous clientele from around the globe. Famous clients would pay hefty fees to fly Sassoon in just to do their hair for an evening. His line of hair care products sold in the millions.

Sassoon was awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) by Queen Elizabeth in 2009.

A film about his life, Vidal Sassoon: The Movie, was released in 2010. He is survived by his fourth wife Rhonda, two sons, Elan and David,  and daughter Eden. Daughter Catya died of a drug-induced heart attack in 2002.

Sasquatch Season: Bigfoot Killings Legal in Texas

Mythical beast Sasquatch (aka Bigfoot) might want to avoid ambling through the forests of Texas, as shooting the legendary creature there is actually legal.

The matter of legal Bigfoot killings came up recently when Sasquatch enthusiast John Lloyd Scharf contacted Texas Parks and Wildlife official David Sinclair to see if he could kill the hairy beast should he encounter one in the Lone Star state and not face any legal repercussions.

As it turns out, Texas doesn't have a decree on the books expressly forbidding the killing of a Sasquatch. A key question in the debate is whether or not a Bigfoot creature can be classified as an "exotic creature" under the terms of state laws regarding the hunting of animals.

“An exotic animal is an animal that is non-indigenous to Texas," Sinclair tells Fox News. "Unless the exotic is an endangered species, then exotics may be hunted on private property with landowner consent.”

Scharf has interpreted this to mean it's open season on Sasquatch. "We’ve got hundreds of sightings going back decades. I don’t think we’d have any problem proving it’s indigenous," he says.

Breaking News: Russian Superjet Vanishes Mid-Flight in Indonesia with 44 Passengers

Update: The Russian superjet crashed into  Indonesian volcano Mount Salak. The search for survivors has been suspended, due to thick fog and the remoteness of the region.

A Russian Sukhoi Superjet  with the capacity to carry 100 passenger  has gone missing on a demonstration flight in Indonesia, reports say.

The plane, with at least 44 passengers and crew aboard, disappeared from radar screens during a demonstration flight from the capital Jakarta meant to last only 30 minutes, reports are saying.

Indonesian Emergency services have confirmed a Sukhoi plane is missing. Helicopters have been dispatched to look for the jet, thought to have been flying near a mountain close to the capital city. 

The jet, which took off at 07:00 GMT, is believed to have had at least four hours' fuel aboard, the BBC's Karishma Vaswani reports from Jakarta. Information from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport claim the jet dropped from 10,000 feet [3,000m] to 6,000 feet in a short period of time. Most of the people on board were invited guests for the demonstration flight, sources say.

Update: NASA Scientist Warns Bangkok, Thailand Must Be Relocated

Ayudhya made the startling revelation at a conference on climate change and rising sea levels in February, claiming that Bangkok, a city of over eleven million people, would need to be relocated to a safer, more inland location within the next decade, as land subsidence and rising sea levels would place the thriving metropolis in grave danger.

A series of devastating and long-lasting floods have gripped the city and country over the past several years, forcing the relocation of untold thousands of people as well as businesses and industry.

New photographs show large stretches of road and land collapsing throughout Bangkok and other areas in Thailand.

Am I Blue? English Football Fans Dress Up as Smurfs

English soccer fans are known for their intense devotion to their favorite teams, and one group of dedicated fans showed just how True Blue they are!

Hundreds of Hartlepool United football supporters became a viral sensation after descending on London to support their team  dressed as loveable cartoon characters the Smurfs. The group of true blue fans caused crowds to break out into spontaneous applause and howls of laughter as they hit the Tube in London to travel to where their team was playing the final game of the season against rival team Charlton Athletic.

Video taken of the totally smurfy fans hitting the town immediately went viral on YouTube and other social media sites. 

This isn't the first time fans of the team have gone all out in a show of support. Last year, fans dressed as Oompa Loompa's, Willy Wonka's tiny helpers, from the classic children's film Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. 

Goodbye, Norma Jean: Giant Marilyn Monroe Statue Dismantled in Chicago

An enormous statue of screen goddess Marilyn Monroe, which met with a chilly reaction from Chicago residents when it debuted last year in the Windy City, has been dismantled.

The 26-foot, 40,000 pound sculpture titled Forever, Marilyn by artist Seward Johnson, was modeled after the famous skirt-lifting scene featuring Monroe in the classic film The Seven Year Itch.  It received a less-than-warm response after it was revealed in Chicago's Magnificent Mile in July, 2011. Most critics derided the work of art as being tacky and the majority of local residents were not shy about voicing their negative opinions about the sculpture.

More recently, the sculpture was used more as an umbrella when scores of people would gather beneath the massive, billowing skirt to stay dry during heavy rains and storms. Thousands of photographs of large groups of people eerily staring up Marilyn's skirt became viral across the Internet.

The statue is now headed to Palm Springs, California, where the real Marilyn Monroe was discovered by a Hollywood agent.
