Better Ingredients, Better Pizza, Racial Slurs: New Yorker Tweets Receipt with Racist Message

A New York City woman is outraged after an employee at a Papa Johns Pizza carry-out restaurant wrote an offensive racial slur on her receipt after she picked up her order.

Minhee Cho thought everything was going great when she visited the Midtown Manhattan pizzeria to pick up her order. Her opinion of the visit quickly soured however after she examined her receipt for the order more carefully. One of the employee's had written the racial epithet "Lady Chinky Eyes" on the line indicating the customer's name. Minhee promptly posted a photograph of the receipt to her twitter feed and Facebook page, and the incident immediately went viral.

The Louisville, Kentucky, based restaurant chain quickly issued an apology to Cho, releasing an official statement regarding the incident: "We were extremely concerned to learn of the receipt issue in New York. This act goes against our company values, and we've confirmed with the franchisee that this matter was addressed immediately and that the employee is being terminated. We are truly sorry for this customer's experience."

The manager from the chain has since fired the employee who wrote the message on the receipt, an unidentified 16-year-old girl. Cho was initially surprised by the racial slur, stating, "“I was very surprised because the lady that was serving me was super nice and we joked and it seemed super normal."
